Walt Kelly is another master of the medium. Kelly had a long and successful career in the medium beginning with Walt Disney, moving into the classic Dell comic books in the early forties. Kelly's crowning jewel was the syndicated feature Pogo. Kelly's art is characterized by his remarkable ability to control his brush line, which effortlessly undulates indicating weight, shadow and light in an unbroken medley of character.
This outstanding fresh to the market, example from 1971 features Pogo, Turtle and Owl in a holiday Sunday, expressing the fanciful vocabulary that made the feature so ingenious
Pen and ink on paper, art measures 17" x 25" and is in overall Fine condition.
