Original art. Created in 1935 by the cartoonist Marge, Little Lulu first appeared as single panels in The Saturday Evening Post. The first Little Lulu appeared in the Post on 2/23/1935 and was drawn in a simple and uncluttered style. The panels were all visual gags, the feature was an immediate success spawning a newspaper feature, books, and TV shows. This example is dated 9/28/1935, within seven months of the very first date of publication, features a great tattoo gag. Pen and ink on paper. Signed lower left, Marge, matted and framed. 7" x 6.25".
