Reed Crandall began his career in comics in 1940, at the now legendary Eisner- Iger shop. There he went on to produce much of the high-quality pen-and-ink work that made publisher Everett "Busy" Arnold's Quality Comics line so special. Crandall is best remembered for his work at Quality Comics which published titles such as Military, National, Hit, Police, Smash, Plastic Man etc.
Offered here is the original cover art to National Comics 25. Rendered in 1942, this is considered one of the greatest patriotic images to ever grace a comic book cover.
This image worked well in 1942 and evokes the same feelings in these uncertain times.
The cover art, rendered in pen and ink on illustration board, measures a large 20” x 15”. Professionally cleaned, the cover is in Very Fine+ overall condition. A statement of preservation and conservation accompanies this lot as does a Fine copy of National Comics #25.
The seller is responsibile for their auction.
